How to compare filter multipacks without the guesswork

Start with a unit price

Suppose one hypothetical pack costs $18 for three filters and another costs $30 for six. The first is $6 per filter and the second is $5. These are illustrative numbers, not current retailer prices. Confirm that both packs contain the same compatible product before comparing them.

If shipping differs, add it before dividing. A low headline price can stop being competitive once a small-order delivery charge is included. Discounts tied to subscriptions or minimum orders should be treated as conditional, not as the ordinary price.

Turn unit price into an annual budget

For a 30-day interval, a year contains about 12.2 replacement intervals. At $5 each, that is about $60.83 of consumable use. Actual purchases happen in whole packs, so the cash you spend may be higher and leave replacements for the following year.

Use a defensible interval

Account for what you can actually use

A larger pack is only good value if the filters fit and you expect to use them. If you might replace the fountain soon, buying fewer can avoid being left with supplies for a model you no longer own. Check any storage instructions and consider available cupboard space.
